Bio

Althea Yip is a lawyer at Loopstra Nixon LLP and a member of the firm's corporate-commercial, cross-border, and tax practice groups.

She is licenced to practice law in Canada (Ontario) and the United States (New York). She is currently enrolled in the In-Depth Tax Program (2019 - 2022) at the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada).

Althea practices transactional and general corporate-commercial law with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, tax planning, reorganizations, in-bound and ex-bound business expansions, debt and equity financing, commercial contracts, and general corporate governance. Althea regularly advises Canadian and international entrepreneurs and businesses (including start-ups, midmarket businesses, family businesses, and multinational private corporations) in a wide range of industries concerning strategic acquisitions, exit strategies, tax-driven reorganizations and intergenerational transfers, corporate development, regulatory compliance, risk management and corporate finance matters.

Althea graduated from the JD/MBA joint degree program at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business, York University. Before her post-graduate studies, Althea attended the University of Western Ontario's Health Sciences (Honours) Program, graduating with a double major in health sciences and philosophy.

Althea is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. She enjoys reading, trying out new restaurants, and attending musicals and symphonies in her spare time.
