The Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring team acted on behalf of the receiver in two separate receiverships, in the successful sale of six retirement and long-term care homes to six individual purchasers.
Represented a leading commercial landlord in respect of numerous lease negotiations, including new leases, extensions and renewals.
Assisted in achieving a denial of liability in an occupiers’ liability trial where “foreseeability” of electrical shock was a central issue.
Acted as counsel to a minority shareholder in respect of the $40,000,000 buyout of North America’s largest materials handling equipment retailer.
The Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring team acted for the largest secured creditor in the CCAA proceedings of Green Growth Brands.
The Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring team acted for Henry’s, the well-known, homegrown national retailer of cameras and equipment.
The Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring team acted for MNP Ltd., as trustee of Cellicon – a national retailer of cell phone accessories and services.
The Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring team represented the purchased of Junction Craft Brewing Inc. and was instrumental in breaking new legal ground.

Advised NOWDiagnostics Inc. in its Acquisition of ZBx Corporation
Loopstra Nixon LLP (“LN”) successfully obtained judgment for approximately $1.5m for its clients.
In a decision issued December 4th, 2020 by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Justice Dietrich held in favour of Loopstra Nixon’s client LDS Capital Corporation in its claim against A & B Courier Services Ltd.
Advised major Canadian financial institution in respect of over 125 secured finance transactions in both Canada and the United States having transaction values between $5,000,000 and $100,000,000.

Represented a publicly-traded transportation and logistics company in the successful acquisition and expansion in the Ontario market.
Represented a mid-market purchaser in the acquisition of assets of a national franchised business, including the acquisition of various related international operations.
Represented a mid-market seller in the hybrid sale of shares of a group of automobile dealerships.
Acted for Canada's largest custom metal galvanizer and its family of shareholders in respect of its sale to one of the world’s leading providers of engineered products for $45,000,000.

In acting for municipal clients, Chuck Loopstra has recently won a number of key decisions in the courts involving illegal dumping.
Successfully defended a private corporation at trial and at the Court of Appeal in a negligent misrepresentation case.
