Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

At Loopstra Nixon we are committed to fostering an environment that nurtures and encourages diversity and inclusion.

We recognize the value that contributions from peoples of different experiences, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities can bring to our Firm and strive to create a workplace where these contributions are not only heard but felt. Our goal is to empower an inclusive culture that welcomes all members and grants them the comfort needed to thrive and achieve their full potential.

In September 2023, after a rigorous review process, Loopstra Nixon achieved Mansfield Certification status. We are the only midsized Canadian-headquartered firm to receive this recognition. The overall goal of the Mansfield Rule is to increase the representation of diverse lawyers in leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for such opportunities.

The Midsize Mansfield Rule, developed for firms with between 25-150 lawyers, measures whether they meaningfully consider 30% historically underrepresented lawyers (women, LGBTQ+, racialized groups, and those with disabilities) in lawyer hiring, partner promotions, leadership positions and formal client pitches and meetings.  We are proud to be the first participating Midsize Mansfield firm headquartered in Canada and the only Canadian firm in our cohort.

Women@LN is focused on cultivating female talent at Loopstra Nixon and maximizing career development through guidance, networking and support of female lawyers.

This initiative is part of our commitment to EDI, and the firms recognition of the value and importance of the recruitment, retention and advancement of women in the legal profession. It is a natural extension of our commitment and participation in The Midsize Mansfield Rule and we look forward to its growth and evolution.
