Connor practises intellectual property law, focusing on trademarks, copyright, commercial IP, and privacy matters.

He also maintains a general corporate & commercial practice that includes advising clients on financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters.

Connor spends a significant amount of time attending to contentious and non-contentious trademark and copyright matters. He regularly counsels clients on trademark prosecution strategy and managing existing trademark portfolios. He also has experience acting on litigious matters, participating in opposition and expungement proceedings at the Trademarks Opposition Board and copyright disputes at the Federal Court.

Leveraging his IP experience, Connor regularly advises on contracts relating to software, research and development outsourcing, digital marketing, and the purchase and sale of intellectual property. In addition, Connor assists clients with licensing their trademarks and other forms of IP in various commercial transactions.

Connor has recently expanded his practice to include privacy & data protection matters. He counsels clients on Canadian privacy matters and their obligations under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. Connor has experience drafting clients’ privacy policies, data-sharing agreements, and electronic marketing frameworks.

Connor also advises on corporate matters. He has experience acting for borrowers and lenders in financing transactions and providing counsel on securities matters. He is frequently involved in debt financing matters, share and asset purchase transactions, and corporate reorganizations.

Connor attended Western University, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree and a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies (specializing in finance). While at law school, he was a student director at the Western Business Law Clinic and a managing editor at the Western Journal of Legal Studies. During his time at Western Law, Connor also received several awards recognizing his community engagement and performance in the school’s corporate finance class.

Before joining the firm as an associate, Connor articled and practiced at an international Canadian law firm. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
