Bio

Chris is senior counsel at the firm, acting in an advisory role for the Business Law Group and Estate Planning / Wealth Management Group.

Chris joined Loopstra Nixon in 2022 to finish up his nearly 50 year career as a corporate-commercial and estate planning lawyer.   Before joining Loopstra Nixon, Chris was a corporate partner and/or managing partner at two highly regarded Brampton law firms for over four decades.

Chris has brought Loopstra Nixon his extensive experience representing independent and entrepreneurial businesses. He has also advised families on preserving and passing on wealth in a tax planned manner. He has earned a reputation for crafting creative and effective legal solutions for companies and their principal owners.

Chris has served on various professional bodies, including the Executive of the Business Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association and the Business Law faculty at the Ontario Bar Admission Course.

An active contributor to the community, Chris has participated as a board member or officer for key civic organizations, such as William Osler Health Centre and its charitable foundation and the Brampton Board of Trade. He is founding chair of Grace Place Community Resource Centre, and a continuing advisor to the Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation. His community activities have been recognized by designation as a Volunteer of the Year by the YMCA of Greater Toronto and as a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.

Chris is a flying musician. He and his wife have piloted their airplane all over North America and the Caribbean. When not flying he may be found playing the standup bass in jazz bands.
