Dawit is an associate in the firm's commercial litigation group.
Dawit has experience in a broad range of commercial issues, including construction litigation, shareholder disputes, class actions, breach of contract, and professional liability claims. He has represented individuals and businesses in various complex and high-stakes matters before the Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Small Claims Court and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Before joining Loopstra Nixon LLP, Dawit articled at an international firm and practiced at a prominent securities litigation boutique, where he acted for clients in a wide range of litigation matters involving commercial disputes, securities regulatory investigations, and class action proceedings.
Dawit obtained his Juris Doctor from Queen's University. While at law school, Dawit developed his advocacy skills at Queen's Legal Aid Clinic and won the best factum award at the Donald G. H. Bowman National Tax Moot. When he's not in the office, Dawit enjoys hiking, cooking, and cheering for the Toronto Raptors.
