Fastfrate Group expands global capabilities with acquisition of Omnitrans Inc.

Fastfrate Group has completed its acquisition of Omnitrans Inc., expanding its capabilities into international freight forwarding and customs brokerage following approval under applicable Canadian regulatory frameworks.

The transaction enhances Fastfrate’s ability to manage the full freight lifecycle—from international origin through customs clearance to final delivery—across key global trade lanes, including Asia, Canada, the United States and Mexico. It reflects a broader shift in the logistics sector toward integrated, end-to-end supply chain solutions, as companies respond to increasing complexity in cross-border trade and regulatory compliance.

The deal involved coordination and collaboration with local counsel in Canada, the United States and China, as well as navigating a range of regulatory considerations, including approvals under the Competition Act and the Canada Transportation Act, along with compliance requirements related to Canadian and U.S. customs brokerage and international freight forwarding licensing.

Loopstra Nixon acted as transaction counsel to Fastfrate Group, advising on all aspects of the acquisition, including transaction structuring, regulatory matters, financing, due diligence and closing. The multidisciplinary team was led by J.A. (Sandy) Nixon and included Bobbi-Ann Wallace, Michelle Mondorf, Althea Yip, Robert Annibale, Erin Pellicane, and Zachary Swannell.

This transaction reflects the type of complex, cross-border work regularly handled by Loopstra Nixon’s Business Law Group.
