Bio

Clay has a broad corporate commercial practice with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and securities. He represents domestic and international clients assisting them in navigating complex transactions by providing support at all stages of the transaction; from letter of intent to primary transaction documents to closing. He has experience dealing with both public and private companies as well as fund formations.

Clay regularly advises clients on contract matters and lending transactions ranging from commercial branch loans to syndicated debt structures.

Clay was recently awarded the 2023 Lewis Isaacs award by LawExchange International in recognition of his commitment to professionalism, collaboration and client satisfaction.

Clay graduated the Juris Doctor program at the University of Western Ontario and also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario. He is keenly involved in his community; during law school, he served as President of the Student Legal Society for two years and was the recipient of the Michael Allan Harte Award, in recognition of academic ability and significant contributions to the life of the law School, his classmates and the community.

Clay enjoys sharing his experiences and passion for the law through governance roles as well as teaching. He has continued to serve the legal community through his role as a board member on the Advisory Board for the Law Students’ Society of Ontario from 2021 to present. In 2023, he has accepted a position as a practicum mentor, teaching at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law.

When he isn't behind his desk or in a boardroom, you can find him in front of a stovetop cooking or cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
