Bio

Gordon Chan is a client-centred, solutions-focused legal advisor. His strong listening abilities, personable approach and unwavering commitment to deliver results, are just a few of the qualities that demonstrate Gordon’s long-term investment in his clients’ success.

As an Associate in Loopstra Nixon’s Corporate and Commercial practice group, Gordon frequently advises on mergers and acquisitions, bank and secured financing, real estate transactions, and various corporate matters. Recently, he successfully represented charter banks in transactions with borrowings in excess of $12 million, and he was also lead counsel for a purchaser on a M&A transaction in Atlantic Canada.

Gordon strongly believes timely communication is paramount in the successful closing of any legal transaction. This is why he makes a point of heightening his availability and maintaining an excellent level of responsiveness on all client needs. From initial introductions right through to closed deals, Gordon’s genuine, enthusiastic and hardworking nature instantly makes people feel at ease.

Helping clients put their best foot forward in their businesses, Gordon enjoys facilitating financing, negotiating contracts, advising on agreements, and assisting in the transition from one corporate phase to another. Gordon draws on his diverse past experiences, both academic and professional, in order to add value by giving fresh perspectives, providing unique expertise, and developing highly effective solutions.

He is currently a Business Law Practicum Mentor at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, where he provides support to students by prompting different trains of thought and offering guidance throughout numerous projects. He is also a Teaching Team Member for Osgoode Hall Law School where he observes in-class student presentations, provides feedback, and coaches students during mock negotiations.

Gordon holds a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Toronto and a J.D. from the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Law. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2020 and to the New York State Bar in 2023.
