Bio

James advises clients on a broad range of corporate matters, with a particular focus on the purchase and sale of businesses across industries including agriculture, manufacturing, transportation and healthcare. He also acts for public companies advising on reverse take-overs and other going-public transactions, continuous disclosure obligations and related securities matters.

Complementing his legal practice is a deep interest in corporate finance — James is currently completing Level III of the CFA program. This combination allows him to assess the commercial and financial dimensions of a transaction alongside the legal ones, giving clients a perspective that extends beyond traditional M&A advice.

Before joining Loopstra Nixon, James practised for 12 years at a national law firm as a partner in its M&A / Securities group.

Outside of his practice, James is a founding member of Sustainable Equity Partners Ltd., a development company focused on affordable multi-family housing across Canada.
