Sunita Doobay

Sunita Doobay is a tax and trust lawyer, focusing on corporate planning, personal tax planning, wills, trusts and estates, and charities and not-for-profits. Her focus is on advising the multijurisdictional client. She sits on the National Award Committee of STEP Canada. She is past co-chair of and current senior advisor to the International Tax Committee of the ABA Section of International Law. Sunita participates frequently as a panelist at tax conferences held in Canada and in the United States. Sunita is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and sits as the advisor to the Section of International Law  of the ABA on the Uniform Law Commission Conflict of Laws in Trusts and Estates Drafting Committee. She is a graduate of Queen’s Law and a graduate of the NYU Tax LL.M. program in U.S. taxation. She also sits on Queen’s University’s Gift Planning Advisory Committee.

She is a sessional lecturer at Queen's Law School and has guest lectured at the NYU masters international tax law program. She frequently publishes and has published in Tax Notes International, the IBFD, the Canadian Tax Foundation Conference Report, the Canadian Tax Foundation tax newsletter Canadian Tax Highlights and on Thomson Reuters Canadian Tax Digital Platform Carswell, TaxNetPro. She is the co-author on a partnership law treatise, the Annotated Ontario Partnership Act. She is passionate about Canadian Indigenous art and collects West Coast artist Ellen Neel and Woodland Artists Carl Ray and Daphne Odjig. She is a member of the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) Indigenous and Canadian Curatorial Committee.
