Althea Yip is an associate in the Corporate & Commercial practice group. She represents entrepreneurs, privately held Canadian businesses, and financial institutions in various business law matters, including the purchase and sale of businesses, reorganizations, estate freezes, and secured financing. Althea also advises clients on a wide range of day-to-day corporate matters, including incorporations, corporate compliance, regulatory issues, commercial contracts, shareholder agreements, and financings.
Althea summered and articled with Loopstra Nixon LLP before joining the firm as an associate after her call to the bar in 2017. Althea obtained her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School concurrently with a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business. As a law student, she was a Conference Chair of the annual JD/MBA Conference and a research assistant to Prof. Mary Jane Mossman, whom she assisted in the publication of a property law textbook. Before her post-graduate studies, Althea obtained her Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Western Ontario and worked as a legal assistant at two real estate law firms.
Althea is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. She enjoys reading, trying out new restaurants, and tutoring high school and university students in English literature in her spare time.
