Nyhus v. Cambridge (City) (OLT-24-000564)

Loopstra Nixon Partner Aaron Platt together with his colleague, Katryna Vergis-Mayo, were successful in obtaining approval from the Ontario Land Tribunal for Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments to permit the redevelopment of 102 Fountain Street South, 134-144 Fountain Street North and 199 Abraham Street in the City of Cambridge.

After a month-long hearing, the Ontario Land Tribunal authorized the redevelopment of the gateway site formerly occupied by the Preston Springs Hotel. The new development includes three towers (22, 20 and 17 storey, respectively) housing 635 dwelling units. The proposal represents the 3 tallest structures in this area of the City of Cambridge and will also include a new publicly accessible square at the critical intersection of King Street West and Fountain Street.
