Bio

Ahmed is a skilled litigator who handles complex commercial disputes with sound judgment and pragmatism.

Ahmed provides clear and practical advice and is known for tailoring litigation strategies to his clients' business realities. He represents individuals, businesses, and institutions navigating domestic and cross-border disputes, investigations and arbitrations.

While Ahmed's litigation practice is diverse, he focuses on civil fraud and asset recovery mandates, shareholder and partnership disputes, post-acquisition claims, class action defence, and administrative and public law matters. He represents stakeholders in oppression claims and derivative actions and has secured wide-ranging relief under federal and provincial Business Corporations Acts. Ahmed also has significant experience obtaining and defending against emergency injunctions and has the temperament and confidence to guide his clients through these high-stakes and urgent mandates.

When called on to advocate for his clients in contested hearings he is formidable and effective and has had success at all levels of the courts in Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Alberta, as well as a number of arbitral and administrative tribunals.

In addition to dispute resolution, Ahmed routinely advises businesses on compliance and risk management issues, including in relation to Canada's sanctions and export control regimes, privacy statutes and regulations, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain / crypto assets.

Prior to joining Loopstra Nixon LLP, Ahmed was a partner at a leading international firm in Toronto.
