Loopstra Nixon Partner named Global Chairman of LawExchange International

On April 24th, Toronto Lawyer and Managing Partner at Loopstra Nixon LLP, Allan Ritchie became the Global Chairman of LawExchange International.

Ritchie becomes 15th Chairman (and first Canadian) in the 26-year history of the organization. LawExchange is an affiliated network of 34 law firms and over 2,000 lawyers worldwide. Ritchie assumes the role from Dr. Hans-Jörg Krämer, a Senior Partner at Zirngibl, a prominent German law firm with offices in Munich and Berlin.

Ritchie had high praise for LawExchange: “Every day we rely on our network of affiliated LawExchange firms to help serve our client’s interests around the world. Without exception, LEI firms are excellent within their respective markets. It’s a tremendous competitive advantage for us to be part of this highly collaborative organization. It is an honour and a privilege to serve as the organization's 15th Chairman.”  Ritchie’s term as Chairman will run until the spring of 2022

Ritchie became Chairman-elect at the organization’s autumn 2019 meeting in Mexico and officially took office following the Spring meeting originally scheduled to be held in Aarhus, Denmark but instead held virtually via web conference last Friday due to the global Covid-19 Pandemic.

A partner at Loopstra Nixon since 2010, Ritchie became Managing Partner of the firm in 2017 and currently leads the Cross-Border Business Law practice. In addition to his role at Loopstra Nixon LLP, Ritchie sits on a number of not-for-profit and corporate boards.

LawExchange founder, and former partner of Hewitsons LLP in Cambridge U.K., Lewis Isaacs said “We are confident that Allan will continue our run of good fortune in the Chairman’s seat and that LEI will continue to evolve from strength to strength”. Friday’s conference also marked the end of Issacs’ run as Principal Secretary of LEI, a post he has held since the organization’s founding in 1994. He will be succeeded by David Lindgren, a retired partner of Lindsays, LEI’s Scotland affiliate with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.
