WASHINGTON - Loopstra Nixon LLP Partner, Allan Ritchie was admitted to practice as an Attorney of the United States Supreme Court today as one of 50 New York lawyers put forward for admission by the New York State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. He is one of a select few dual-qualified Canada-US lawyers to have received this honour in the NYSBA's history.

The motion for admission was made by Claire Gutekunst, President of the NYSBA and the motion was accepted by Chief Justice, John Roberts. The admittees were later joined for a private reception with Associate Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The motion admitting the NYSBA nominees was heard immediately following the reading of the Court's highly anticipated decisions in three major cases, Halo Electronics, Inc. v. Pulse Electronics, Inc. (Intellectual Property Infringement Damages), Puerto Rico v. Franklin Cal. Tax-Free Trust (Bankruptcy), and United States v. Bryant (Criminal Law, Native Rights).

Allan leads the firm's Canada-US Cross Border Practice and has been recognized by Lexpert Magazine as a leading cross-border corporate lawyer.
